Country Music Mixing for $10
Even the best mixers can't break into Airgigs success without getting those first jobs. Why not try someone that's cheap? There are a million mix engineers working from home studios today, but we all have different strengths and different working attitudes. I played country music gigs for 10 years, being a Dallas, Tx native. I've worked with cats from the true red dirt, crossing the red river, or city folk that have fancy boots. The bottom line is: country music tells a story and gets your feet scootin'. The same should be applied to mixing country music. Tell the story, get the groove. I spent 2 years shaping my studio so that I can hear the mixes accurately. I work with Protools, Luna and Studio One, sometimes Logic. I love my Universal Audio Plugin Collection, Slate Digital Collection, and Izotope Bundle. As well, I've crafted some outboard gear myself (loving the tech and building side of audio) that mock some of the famous compressors, equalizers of time.
My strategy: make the drums and bass groove, make the vocals pop, and make the supporting instruments shine when they're supposed to. Very simple, but it keeps me from being too technical.
