Mixing for Humans. for $400
I like to dig for the UNIQUE PERSONALITY in a production. I can do big, clear, polished, impactful, balanced, etc...but at the end of the day I want to FEEL SOMETHING when I hear a piece of music. If that means the vocal is insanely LOUD, or insanely QUIET, or the drums sound SMALL AND SHITTY, or it just generally doesn't fit the norm of a slick production, that's all good with me, as long as I feel something. Seeking emotional impact, and amplifying the artist's unique story and personality are what steer me in mixing and producing. A lot of the gigs I get fall loosely into the indie rock camp, but I LOVE AUTHENTIC MUSIC OF ALL GENRES, and my personal taste is adaptable and ever-shifting.
I'm good up to 60 tracks. Beyond that, probably best if you submix (pre-mix) a few things. You can check out some examples of productions I've worked on under the Audio tab above, or visit my website at gregpanciera.com. I like Basquiat, Family Guy, True Detective, Pho, and Alta/Snowbird.
Gear? I have some of it, including analog summing from Dangerous, and Symphony converters by Apogee. Lets be honest though, I teach a production class at SAE Institute Chicago and some of the worst mixes I've ever heard were students mixing with a million dollars worth of gear, including a $600,000 SSL Duality console. So personally I'd say ignore the gear-if you like my audio samples, hire me, if not hire someone else, but don't make the mistake of choosing someone based on their stuff.
