Mixing for Next Level Artists for $500
I’m a Nashville-based engineer/producer with 20 years of experience producing and consulting artists, studio owners and gear companies.
A few years ago, I was outsourcing but overseeing mixes for my clients. For lower-budget projects, the sound was always a bit brittle and two-dimensional, thin, small and sometimes smeared. Most of my clients could not afford to pay for my Grammy-winning friends to mix their songs but longed for that sound.
I set out to solve this problem and give artists that big-studio sound at a lower cost. After trying out so many plugins and pieces of hardware, having custom modifications done to some of that hardware and adding in unique boutique pieces in an efficient hybrid system, I found a way to get top-level results and now my Grammy-winning friends want to know my secret.
My assistant and I do not do mastering and for many good reasons. My mixes sound big and make it easy for a real mastering engineer to create a radio-ready master. I know because my work is starting to appear on FM and satellite radio.
You can find cheaper mixing services and you may want to check them out first. Pick two and give each the same stems and instructions but make sure no review mixes have any mastering-type plugins on them so you can hear what the mixes really are. If they sound brittle, thin, cloudy, smeared, flat, lifeless or small, it may be time to level up because mixes should sound big and wonderful before mastering.
Your music is an expression or extension of you. It is also your brand and your legacy. Do you want it to sound cheap and generic or would you rather stand out from the crowd? When you’re ready to rise above the noise and create a sound that will stand the test of time, hit me up.
