Editing and Mix Prep from a Pro Engineer for $180

Hello, I'm Andrew Akins! I'm a former songwriter and performer and cut my teeth in music industry as an artist in studios. Gradually, I fell in love with the recording and production process, and ended up landing my current position as Chief Engineer at Covenant Recording in Amarillo, TX.

As Chief Engineer, I've recorded for bands, but I've also extensively edited for bands and artists, and even for labels. Among these are Ri Wolf, Estrategia Nortena, Brody Blue, and Bardown. I believe editing is 50% of the battle for making a song sound top-notch quality. I know exactly what benchmark the industry shoots for when it comes to editing - time aligning instruments, pitch correction, and noise reduction. My goal is to make the editing seamless and natural; you'd have no idea it was there.

I have two advantages when it comes to editing. One is that I work in Pro Tools, which is currently the best DAW for editing out there, and that's why it's the industry standard. The other is that I have extremely strong sense of pitch - I have close to perfect, if not perfect, pitch. Couple that with my background as a songwriter and knowledge of music theory as a former music major, and that makes me uniquely suited to tune vocals and instruments exceptionally well.

I work from my home studio which includes two sets of monitors - NS-10s and KRK Rokit 10s. My environment is dialed in to where I can clearly hear any issues that might exist in your tracks. I have full Waves and Plugin Alliance suites, and iZotope plugins for intense doctoring if needed.

Please note that I do not do comp'ing of takes. I really believe the artist or producer should decide what takes to use where!
