Over 25 years of playing & recording experience in a wide variety of styles; I have a BA in music performance but my most important musical education has come from listening to great bass players and working with other musicians. From Grammy-nominated artists working out of world-class studios to DIY upstarts in their spare bedrooms, I'm comfortable and happy working in nearly any context.

I have many bass sounds to choose from: a 100-year-old carved German upright that sings & growls and sits so nicely in a track; tried-and-true vintage Fender Precision & Jazz basses; a thumpy short-scale; a big, warm hollowbody; a modern 5-string; a singing fretless. If you've got a vision, I've got the tools to bring it into the world.

You can choose an amp or direct sound, or both! I prefer my 1968 Ampeg SB-12 fliptop amp for a nice round, supportive sound with the perfect midrange presence, but have several other options to choose from depending on your preference. Aguilar AG700 & SL410 or SL112 for a modern, clean sound, or an Ampeg V4b & matching cab for an old-school, rocking tone. I like to mic a cab with a large-diaphragm condenser for detail, or a Shure SM7 for that perfect punchy tone. My current favorite direct sound is a Neve mic preamp, but I also have an Avalon U5, Radial J48, Studio Projects VTB1, and several other direct options. I love shaping a bass sound so I'm happy to hear your ideas!

But enough about gear - the most important thing is the music! I love the process of developing a part for a song; give me some of your ideas or sample tracks and I'll work from there, or tell me to fly free and do my own thing. I'm happy to take as much or as little input from you as you like. The top priority for me will be creating a bass track that you love and lifts up your song in whatever ways possible.
