Full of Air

By Justin Howell

Full of Air

Full of Air started as a way to process my isolation as a basement-dwelling producer. When collaborations dried up, I found myself drifting away like a balloon - visible but just out of reach. This metaphor runs through the whole EP, from the pleading chorus of 'Poke' ("So poke me / I'm full of air / I'm way up here and I wanna be down there") to the raw vulnerability of the finale 'Fighting Chance.'

The EP moves through five tracks of self-aware indie rock, each dealing with disconnection in its own way. It starts with metaphors and jokes about feeling adrift, but by the end, all that clever wordplay falls away for something more direct and explosive. Think Huey Lewis meets Biffy Clyro, but with more feelings about feelings.
