We Can Go On
It all started when I accidentally locked myself in the walk-in freezer at the local supermarket, in 2014. Three hours into the freezer, I began tapping rhythmically on frozen french fries packages to keep warm. A store employee named Gustav finally discovered me, but not before I had composed an entire melody using nothing but frozen french fries percussion.
"That's actually catchy," said Gustav, a failed DJ. "Let's record this."
The next day, we met at Gustav's "studio". I hummed the melody while he programmed beats on equipment he'd stolen the day before. When we needed lyrics, we fed the Sensible World of Soccer instruction manual into an old paper shredder and randomly selected the scraps that flew out.
The chorus "We Can Go On" was pure accidental genius.
I made Gustav magically disappear (thanks, Mauro) and released the song under my name.
