Matthew Weber is the former associate principal bassist of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, former principal pool member of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the North Czech Capella (North Czech Chamber Ensemble). He has recently performed with The Halle Orchestra as guest assistant principal bass, and played as principal bassist under the late Ennio Morricone on his final European tour.
Matthew has recorded for Deutche Grammophon, Universal Records, Phillip Glass, soprano Teodora Gheorgihu, Albany Records, BMOP/Sound (Boston Modern Orchestra Project), and has recorded numerous movie scores with the Czech National Symphony. Recent recordings include the double bass part for Goosebumps The Musical, as bass guitarist for Johan Lenox, and the debut LP of the metal band Eros.
Passionate about music from a young age, Matthew began his musical studies at the age of twelve playing Double bass, Electric bass, and Cello. He went on to major in classical Double bass, studying with Metropolitan Opera principal bassist, Timothy Cobb. Matthew holds a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College. Matthew has been featured on NPR's Performance Today, Q2 Music, and in The Strad Magazine.
