Chris Wallace has enjoyed a career in music for over 25 years. He has performed and toured in 5 different continents in an extremely diverse range of musical situations. While living in Edinburgh, Scotland for 15 years he became a central figure in the Scottish jazz and improvisatory music scene, and as a freelance drummer in many different settings. He toured extensively in Europe with Scottish celtic rock legends Wolfstone, toured Scotland, England and Wales several times with his own trio and many other Scottish jazz artists, toured twice to Australia with cabaret superstar Ali McGregor, supported jazz legend Bill Frisell at the Queen Elizabeth Hall for the London Jazz Festival in 2011 and also appeared at
the Brit Jazz Festival that same year at London's legendary Ronnie Scott's in Soho.
As a sideman he performed with many international artists such as Jamie Oehlers (AUS), Jim Mullen and Molly Duncan (Average White Band) (UK), Alan Barnes (UK), Julian Arguelles (UK), Karen Sharp (UK), Silke Eberhard (GER), Louis Durra (USA), Damon Brown (UK), Ulf Wakenius (SWE) and Anders Bergcrantz (SWE).
Chris has backed many singers as well including Lady Rizo (NYC), Julienne Taylor (UK), Lillian Boutte (USA), Barbara Morrison (USA), Niki King (UK) and Holly Penfield (UK/USA).
Chris's trio NeWt was voted Jazz Ensemble of the year for 2012 at the Scottish Jazz Awards. They also were selected for the “Made in the UK” showcase series at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival that same year, also appearing at the TD Toronto and Vancouver jazz festivals.
In 2014 he moved to Toronto, Canada, working with a wide range of artists including JUNO award winning soul/RnB vocalists Billy Newton Davis, Carlos Morgan and Gavin Hope (The Nylons) as well as performing with many of Canada's premiere jazz musicians and international players like Joel Frahm (US) and Russ Nolan (US).
