A child prodigy, Habbert Cheeks III began playing the drums at the tender age of three (3). Having over twenty years of experience, Habbert has distinguished himself with an undeniable talent, coupled with hard work and determination. Habbert can clearly be distinguished and named among the drumming elite. His creative genius has translated his musicianship across genres.
Born Habbert Cheeks III on December 22, 1979 in West Islip, NY. The son of a Pastor, Habbert’s roots and beginnings trace back to the church. As a result, Habbert has led the music department of various church ministries in the tri-state area and served as the featured drummer on various recordings for local choirs and ensembles. While always remaining faithful to his beginnings, Habbert has expanded his musical flair by partaking in various studio sessions, live performances, TV appearances and recordings. Habbert has played for some of today’s most notable Christian recording artists. His resume names Stellar nominated James Hall Worship and Praise, Grammy-award winner Yolanda Adams and a plethora of others.
As he grew older, so did Habbert’s development as a musician. His ability to adapt to all musical styles afforded him the opportunity to perform and tour as the drummer for R&B Grammy-award winner Chrisette Michele. Habbert’s excellent work ethic, attention to detail and professionalism allowed him to also become the musical director and later road manager for Chrisette Michele.
With a passion for music, and a loyalty to his kit, Habbert has developed his skill as a versatile "pocket" drummer. His energy and passion for music has cast him into the limelight, making him high in demand. He is a musical force to be reckoned with and a name that will resonate for his melodic genius. Habbert is currently drumming for Atlantic records artist Max Frost.
