Jonathon Maisto is a professional audio engineer / producer based in the New York Metropolitan. He’s been a musician for 20+ years and former bassist of NJ prog rock natives, Science, playing alongside members of My Chemical Romance’s Frank Iero & The Patience. As an original member of the nationally cult classic experimental outfit Will Wood & The Tapeworms, Jon has produced each of Will Wood’s releases since including the wildly successful crowdfunded release “Incase I make it,” which crowdfunded half a million dollars in 30 days and has since accumulated over 50,000,000 streams and counting.
Today, Jon's studio work is done out of Backroom Studios where he's been steadily producing and recording material since 2014. He’s cultivated a dedicated, talented and diverse clientele. Jon works with signed and unsigned talent alike, local and national. Proudly achieving major label credits on Billboard charting releases by NJ natives such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Jon’s work spans down the coasts and through the midwest working with national talent such as Second Arrows (ex-Every Time I Die), The Skulx (members of Foxy Shazam) and Fero Lux.
Jon has an incredible ability to bring his clients’ visions to fruition through vivid communication and personable pre-production. Jon’s productions stand out from others with their dimension alone. As a producer, his style and workflow have been compared to that of Rick Rubin and John Feldman; using a combination of analog and digital processing, always finding the most unique way to fill the stereo image and constantly delivering punchy, radio-ready releases mixed/mastered to a professional, modern standard.
Jon possesses over a decade of relevant studio & live / touring experience. As a top player in the national live music circuit he’s mixed FOH / MON at world-renowned rooms and national festivals for Grammy Award winning artists like Mark Ronson, Charli XCX and French Montana -- not to mention Billboard charting favorites like My Chemical Romance, AFI and Mike Patton of Faith No More / Mr. Bungle. Even in corporate settings, Jon has been responsible for all facets of A/V for productions at Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Center, NBC Studios, and most recently working closely with Showtime’s Boxing Division as he travels the country frequently to broadcast mix title fights for super PPV’s like Jake Paul.
Using his cumulative experience and resources Jon started Event Horizon Audio/Visual LLC in 2019 where he continues to provide a full array of professional A/V services for the New York Metropolitan area and beyond.
