The career of composer Louis Anthony deLise has included simultaneous assignments playing percussion in orchestras that accompanied Tony Bennett, Luciano Pavarotti, Dianne Ross, Beverly Sills, and Mel Tormé; playing piano and percussion in Philadelphia’s recording studios; and producing, arranging and conducting on releases on the CBS, EMI, Mercury, Centaur, Vanguard, and Def-Soul record labels.
Louis was arranger and conductor on Grammy winner Patti LaBelle’s number one hit album, The Gospel According to Patti LaBelle. Along the way, deLise has maintained an active career as a published composer of concert music.
He has written orchestral arrangements for Grammy-winner Peter Nero, and on hit records for Grammy-winners, Patti LaBelle, and Halestorm, and for hit makers, William DeVaughn, SPiN, Bunny Sigler, and many others.
Dr. deLise was Adjunct Professor of Theory and Composition at the Boyer College of Music and Dance. He is the author of The Professional Songwriter, a textbook on songwriting.
In 2019, his Salone del Astor, a concerto for flute written for Ms. Joan Sparks, was named, “Best Newly Published Mix Duet” by the National Flute Association. Metropolis Music Publishers and ALRY Publications publish his concert music in print.
His most recent release is Natural Light, an album of ambient instrumental compositions that achieved a top-ten chart position and several international award nominations.
