Peter Young (born in Saratoga Springs, NY) is an American country, pop, rock, jazz drummer, record producer and songwriter. Growing up in New York State and into a musical family, Peter’s exposer to a variety of musical styles helped develop his skills early on. At the age of seven, Peter took to the drums and has never turned back. Through out his middle and high school years Peter studied privately and performed in diverse settings, including drum & bugle corps, summer stock theater and live gigs with country, pop, jazz and rock groups.
Recording sessions started coming Peter’s way in 1985. Influenced by many of the top studio drummers in NYC and LA , Peter headed to New York to study privately at the legendary drum school ”Drummers Collective.” His teachers include jazz- funk drummer Mike Clark (Herbie Hancock).New Orleans great Ricky Sebastian. Additional studies with NYC Broadway drummer Sue Evans along with jazz drummer David Calarco continued to help Peter round out his craft.
In 1991 Peter relocated to Nashville,Tenn. He then was hired by Atlantic Recordings recording artist Robin Lee (“Black Velvet”). On the heels of this successful entrance into the Nashville scene, Peter thru out his time in Nashville has joined many major artist's and songwriters on their sessions and tours. He also spent 5 years touring with country music legend Loretta Lynn from 1997 through 2001.
Another Live Gig Highlight: In 1997-1998 Peter toured with “The Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Competition” The event was hosted by The Jimi Hendrix family, Fender Guitars and GIT in Hollywood, California.
In 2005 Peter launched his recording studio and his internet drum track enterprise. Even as his Nashville-based clientele grew, the response to his online offerings skyrocketed. Since then he's recorded tracks for artist's from all area's of the globe .
