Zé is the founder of the Afrobeat Afrobeat Orchestra, the first afrobeat band in Brazil, and also the band Carapaus Afrobeat, born in Lisbon.

He played with Tony Allen and produced with him the single "Meus Filhos", also with the participation of BNegão, lead singer of Planet Hemp, one of the most important rock bands in Brazil.
He accompanied the singer Céu for almost 2 years. He played in the band of Jards Macalé for 5 years. The artist is one of the icons of Tropicália, produced the album Transa by Caetano Veloso and directed Gal Costa, among others.

He also played with Luiz Melodia, Otto, Marku Ribas, Fafá de Belém.
He was guitarist of Oghene Kologbo, guitarist of the first band of Fela Kuti, during his stay in Brazil.
