Bridger Dunnagan is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and recording artist based in Asheville, North Carolina.
His musical journey began by playing violin in school orchestras in the Gallatin Valley of Montana, which soon led to interest in fiddling. In his teenage years, curiosity for old-time music was stirred when he attended the fiddle festival in Weiser, Idaho. In college, he stumbled upon the Bluegrass community in his hometown of Bozeman, MT and began finding stride playing fiddle and singing in string bands. He started writing original music on violin, octave mandolin and guitar, performing and recording in acoustic duo Hazel Hue. By his junior year at Montana State University he was studying classical violin with Angella Ahn (Ahn Trio) and Jazz with saxophonist Ryan Matzinger while working on his degree in Agriculture. Summer voyages to Colorado led to relocating to Denver, to which he was drawn by the vibrant acoustic music scene. Drawing from a heartfelt sense of touch with folk music, his musical voice evokes a freedom amongst tasteful musical fluency and innovation. Since the pandemic, Dunnagan has followed his interests into the art of recording. His first entirely self-produced EP “Buddy Boy” displays original tune writing, where he plays both fiddle and clawhammer banjo. Now based in Asheville, NC, Dunnagan is growing as an engineer and producer.
