Singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Daniel Lerner was born & raised in New York City, where he connected with musicians throughout the DIY scene. Working as a guitarist for bands and artists – from alternative rock outfit The Step Dads to rapper Freaky Pat – helped solidify Daniel’s blend of sounds and styles. Daniel’s music combines guitar-driven indie rock/pop, smooth R&B grooves and introspective songwriting.
Daniel finds himself just as comfortable on the stage as he does in the studio. Having grown up in NYC, Daniel headlined a variety of venues such as Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Pianos, The Living Room, DROM, Silvana, and Shrine. Daniel received his undergraduate degree in Media Writing & Production at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. In his time in Florida, he performed at Wynwood Yard, Yumbrella, Sofar Miami, Sofar Fort Lauderdale, Churchill’s, Sunset Tavern, Titanic Brewery, Open Stage Club, Grove Bay Grill, Wetlab, UC Patio, and The Globe. In 2019, he had written, produced and mixed two singles, “Out of the Equation” and “Deus Ex Machina.” Later that same year, he co-wrote and sang on “Honey Lemon” with Freaky Pat and Cam Evans. In 2020, he co-wrote and played guitar with Sabel and Reed Gaines on “Eventually.” His most recent single “I’ll Be Patient (If You’ll Be Kind)” was released on May 8, 2020. He is currently writing and producing an EP of indie rock and dream-pop material, evoking the sonics and writing styles of modern heroes of the genre like Beach Fossils, Alex G, and Local Natives.
Daniel has contributed his musicianship to a variety of songwriters; he provided guitar on Jason to Me’s It’s Alright To Be Alright, J.I.V.Y.’s Corrode, and Sara Latimer’s Passenger Seat.
Daniel continues to set his sights on new projects that expand his skills. In the past year, he has composed and conducted three live orchestral cues for film projects – one for a winds section and one for a strings section. In February, he composed and produced the theme music for the Casual Pour podcast which premiered in March. He has extensive experience running recording studios, as well as managing and organizing equipment using the Frost School of Music Weeks Studio and Media Writing & Production Studio.
