I'm Danny G Felix , I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and then adopted by Cali, Colombia therefore you can call me "Australeño." My mission is to bring pure joy and pleasure through music.
I'm a pianist, trumpeter, composer/arranger and producer. I am the director of Malo Malo Band and am a member of The Regime and Orquesta Calibre. I've worked with Gregory Porter, Mayito Rivera, Tirso Duarte, Deni Hines and Mike Nock. I am the founding director of two of Sydney's most important weekly jam sessions - The Monday Jam and Jazz Hip Hop Freestyle Sessions. These sessions are largely responsible for the discovery of artists such Sampa the Great and Thandi Phoenix and have also attracted international guests such as Jill Scott, De La Soul, Kamasi Washington, Shabaka and the Ancestors and the Blind Boys of Alabama. In recent years I've been been hard at work with my progressive salsa group MALO MALO which I run in both Sydney and Cali. I've been working steadily over the years with Orquesta Calibre with whom I recorded piano on several records and helped arrange their hit song "Charrupi." After finding inspiration and happiness touring playing salsa music in some of the most remote and "caliente" areas of Colombia and Ecuador I am so happy to be able to share those indescribable feelings, flavours and experiences with people of all backgrounds through my constantly expanding repertoire of music.
