Hi, My Name is Raphael Lanthaler. I am a drummer and producer based in Vienna, Austria.
Upon spending five very inspiring and formative years immersed in the vibrant music scene in London and completing my honours degree in music performance at the ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance), I travelled Europe by bicycle for about 4 months and after that ended up settling down in Vienna. After growing up in the rather (beautiful but) conservative alpine region of South Tyrol in Northern Italy, these experiences truly opened my mind, not only musically but also to life in general.
I have been a live drummer for longer than I can remember. I started out in a local covers band at age 14. Later I had the privilege to playing with artists and bands such as Elis Noa, Charlotte Eriksson, The Habib Samandi Group, Sisyphos and many others. Moreover I always pursued my own bands and projects like What?!, DRIP, and most recently Bambusbjørn. I have played in music venues, clubs and at festivals all over Europe.
Since getting my first (very basic) music software from my uncle at the age of 12 the interest in music production only ever grew bigger. I always loved writing tunes and shaping sounds, and - besides studying the drums as my main instrument - with time I got deeper and deeper into music production, synthesizers, sound shaping, effect pedals and drum machines.
After quite a long period of hard and tedious work, and with the help of some incredible friends, in 2021 I managed to finish the build of my own studio - a dream come true! I was able to build a room totally dedicated to music making and drum recording. A room that I can go to whenever I want. A room that inspires me.
This room opened a new chapter for me. The chapter where I get to record drums for you!
