Ethereal is the work of Swedish born Thai transgender solo artist Waritsara 'Yui' Karlberg. The stage name itself exudes the kind of music she does which has been deemed as 'unique guitar playing' combined with a 'haunting ambient head voice' strongly influenced by the likes of Anthony & The Johnsons/Anohni, London Grammar and Portishead.
Even though she had already been in rock bands in the past (skate punk cover band Disowned, garage rock band The 16 Bit Consoles and alternative rock band Silicon Sun) and had been writing songs since the age of 15, Ethereal began as Yui Karlberg in 2012 after hearing Bon Iver's debut album 'For Emma, Forever Ago' and after thinking it was time to come up with a new sound as well as something to soothe our busy lives, she adopted the head voice vocals and started picking chords on her guitar in the tuning of DADGAD.
All her releases are available and can be downloaded at:

Fast forward to 2016, with the support of friends who are heavily involved in the music industry, and after she had left her solo project collecting dust in the cupboard, it was time to reinvent herself so she has since come up with new material and rewritten a few of the most popular songs she wrote and released as Yui Karlberg such as the previously released Radiohead's 'Street Spirit' -esque 'Restless Mind'

She is currently working on getting her live performances sorted and has recently evolved her sound again combining violin, a dulcimer type instrument called an anuntar, a Thai traditional guitar called a pin, as well as her headvoice with ambient electronica with her partner in rhyme Ian Gray on keys. In the meantime, she is heavily involved in her own dance rock band The Subwave Network UK as well as promoter, music producer and artist development for her new business Puffafish Promotions.
As soon as she is ready, she will be releasing her debut Ethereal album and hopes to get a publishing deal from it soon also.
