Fraser Bowles is a highly experienced orchestral and session cellist. He has worked with the London Sinfonietta and for Isobel Griffiths (Spitfire Audio/Hans Zimmer sessions). His commercial work include performances with Burna Boy, engagements across Europe for North Face, and through Parallax Orchestra; performances and recording sessions with Alter Bridge, Ardyn, Astræa, Bethesda Game Studios, Bring Me The Horizon, dodie, Eminem, Half Moon Run, Lockie Chapman, Marie White, Toh Kay and Sweet Billy Pilgrim. Fraser also works with the Guildhall Session Orchestra (principal cello).
He is a founding member of the contemporary music group, Ret Frem. Not constrained by genre or style, Ret Frem is committed to the performance and promotion of music of exquisite craft by living composers - whether they are established, emerging or underrepresented. Alongside their performances, they have also conducted a number of educational workshops in schools around London.
Fraser is an avid chamber musician and his ensembles have performed at numerous venues around London including the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, the Southbank Centre, and the Barbican. During his undergraduate studies at Trinity Laban, his string quartet was awarded the Richard Carne Chamber mentorship scheme with the Carducci and Wihan quartets.
Independently, he has also recorded for and performed with a large number of artists, bands, producers and composers; Ben Laver, Chris Davey, David Fernandez, Heather McClelland, Isabelle Brown, Joe Donohoe, Jon Wygens, Maisha, Matt Emery, Matt James Hill, Michael Patrick, Noah Anderson, Nico Casal, Okiem, Rebecca Dancer, Rubod & Stroudinsky, Sharlene-Monique, Smoke Fairies, Taz Modi, Tim Maryon, Tyrone Wright, Vian Izak, Villette and VLMV.
Fraser completed his MMus degree at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Tim Gill after finishing his BMus (Hons) undergraduate degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Joely Koos. He was awarded the ABRSM Marguerite Swan memorial prize in both 2003 and 2010, and in 2015 he was a finalist in the Vera Kantrovich competition.
Fraser plays an c.1850 Mittenwald cello and a Yamaha SVC-110 electric cello.
