He pursued music further and graduated from UMass Lowell in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sound Recording Technology. He immediately moved to Los Angeles to work as a Runner at The Record Plant and eventually an Assistant Engineer. After gaining several years of experience as an assistant at The Record Plant and freelance engineering for several years James has been credited with working on multiple platinum and gold records by artists like Khalid, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Kane Brown, & Justin Bieber. James has also produced, co-written, and mixed music for various independent & label artists; garnering placements in film and TV. James was also a finalist for the Folk category in the 2023 John Lennon songwriting contest for his song "Brightest Ghost."
