I'm flexible and I like the "Yes, and..." approach to collaboration—I'd rather flow first, then edit and resolve later. If that's cool, let's work together! (P.s. search for me on streaming platforms ?) I speak two languages: Portuguese and English—I hope that facilitates?
I grew up in the grunge and late-alternative rock era. The first song I ever learned on guitar was More than Words, by Extreme, which was neither grunge nor alternative rock. There was an acoustic guitar left behind at my house after a (parents') party; it called me away from my Amiga 500 computer and I fell in love with trying. It wasn't long after that I received my own acoustic guitar for my sixteenth birthday; it was probably 1992 when I got a stratocaster and a Fender amp; 1995 when I started gigging in Kelowna with a cover band. We played The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac; I was listening to Soundgarden, The Tragically Hip, Pearl Jam, and also older rock like Zeppelin, Skynyrd, and much more.
I'm primarily an artist—a guitarist and singer-songwriter—who has had a technical and theoretical interest in recorded music since the beginning... which was back in 1997, when I first recorded and released my own songs. I've been actively recording and releasing music since then. I was fortunate to get a music education in Brazil, where I studied for four years, including two years of excellent harmony theory classes all the while learning a second instrument (mandolin). This knowledge of music harmony has since been a wonderful, additional tool for songwriting and arranging.
I have a small, high quality studio that I work from (remote) in the capital city of Brazil; all the recent (since May 2020) work I've done (on streaming platforms) has been from this studio, except drums which I tend to record in bigger rooms. My domain has always been organic/acoustic music, i.e., music made by humans playing physical, traditional instruments; that said, I'm keen and able to work in the electronic domain, as well.
My 2011 release, Everyelsewhere EP, was my first all-hats-worn production with a band: I was the songwriter, arranger, recording engineer, editor, mixing co-engineer (I wanted to collaborate), and mastering engineer. I was inspired at the time—to record outside of traditional studios—by music I'd heard from Gregory Alan Isakov and stories I had read in Daniel Lanois' book, Soul Mining. Since then, I have put in uncountable hours of study, experimentation, and work as a labour of love ❤️?.
Artists that I currently admire are (this is in no way exhaustive, but it does seem guitar-focused): Blake Mills, Madison Cunningham, Vilray, Julian Lage, Jocelyn Gould, Mike Campbell (yes, true!), Daniel Hardin, Ron Sexsmith, Charlie Hunter, Lydia Persaud, Gilberto Gil, The Wood Brothers, and Kliffs.
