Biography Jim Rieder
Jim has been in the field of audio production and music since the mid-80's as an audio engineer, producer, director and composer. After returning from the armed services, he decided to go to Arizona State University and re-connect with music and recording. He started his quest in audio engineering at the Walter Cronkite School of Broadcasting at Arizona State University. Upon completing studies at ASU, He began working at a 24-track recording studio in Phoenix, as second engineer. Working with local and regional agencies in producing radio and TV spots, industrial video and album projects, working with national recording artists such as; Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, The Neville Brothers, John McCuen (Nitti Gritty Dirt Band) and Lyle Lovett. Jim became known for his unique recording style and pushing the technology to its limits to achieve the best possible recording. He moved to Los Angeles to continue in the recording industry and worked as engineer for a number of studios in LA and San Diego such as; The Record plant, The Hit factory, Westlake Audio and many others. Soon, more artists were coming to Phoenix to record and the commercial and industrial video business was beginning to thrive as well. Jim became associated with Go-Video Productions under a contract to design and build a multi-track audio post studio and remain as their production manager in the early 80's. While at Go-Video Productions, he managed a production staff of 10 in producing industrial, commercial video and 35mm film projects. He also had the opportunity to establish a music publishing company and an independent record label, Yansa Music which recorded, produced and distributed a number of adult contemporary albums in the US and Europe. Opportunity came knocking once again in the form of a contract position with the Phoenix Suns as the Technical Director at the US Airways Center and later at Chase Field for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Jim opened and maintained an in-house multi-track studio to produce audio for the NBA, MLB, NHL, NBC, ESPN in sound effects, compose music and coordinate game operations for the Phoenix Suns, AZ Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes, Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers. All the while, Jim maintained his own company, The Production Source, which serviced Phoenix and LA Ad agencies along with local production companies in digital audio products in sound design, sound effects and voice.
