He is a composer, arranger, musical producer and director; plays the cavaquinho, - a typical Brazilian instrument, guitars and keyboards.
João made a lot of records and shows, in Brazil and many other countries; worked with important Brazilian artists, such as: Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte, Paulinho da Viola and Adriana Calcanhotto, among others.
He’s a member of Grupo Semente, a samba group that exists since 1998 and recorded many CDs and DVDs with the singer Teresa Cristina. The Rirst solo album of the group (Grupo Semente – Biscoito Fino – 2014) won the 26o Prêmio da Música Brasileira (Brazilian’s Music Prize) as better samba group.
João also works often with theatre, as musical director, composer, arranger, conductor and musician. In 2018 he won the APTR prize for best music, with a music play about Zeca Pagodinho’s life and work.
