Karl's career has already spanned four decades with his roots lying in ‘Funk Soul’ music when he was the keyboardist for Galliano. During these years his portfolio of work has been incredibly diverse, ranging from mainstream pop through to working with Manchester United & providing theme tunes / incidental music for Friends & Heros, Postman Pat & Rupert The Bear.
His mainstream pop career began at Peter Waterman Limited (PWL) where he earned significant recognition for his songwriting & production work with artists including Tina Cousins, 5ive, Westlife &, most notably, Steps.
Karl's artistic talents were an undeniable contribution to the success of Steps who achieved 2 number-one albums in the UK, 14 consecutive top-5 singles (Including 2 number-ones) &, most recently, have enjoyed their 25th anniversary come back tour. As part of this impressive run Karl’s repertoire includes the following;
- One For Sorrow - Written & produced by Karl (Peaked at number 2 in the UK singles chart).
- Tragedy - Produced by Karl (Peaked at number 1 in the UK singles chart).
- Stomp - Written & produced by Karl (Peaked at number 1 in the UK singles chart).
- Steptacular, album - Karl wrote & produced 8 of the tracks (Earned a double platinum disc award & peaked at number 1 in the UK album chart).
- Heartbreak In This City - Written & produced by Karl (Peaked at number 1 in the streaming chart).
Karl’s breadth of talent extends across a diverse range of musical capabilities & he is uniquely positioned with his ability to score full orchestral pieces. Included in his portfolio of work is the following;
- The musical composition for 56 episodes of Channel 5’s Rupert The Bear.
- The musical composition of 8 series of BBC’s Postman Pat Special Delivery Service.
- Composition of the theme tune & all the incidentals for 52 episodes of Friends & Heros.
- Production of the theme tune for 2012 release of Disneys Beauty & The Beast.
