Max Moran is a Louisiana born musician and composer who has become a first-call bassist across several genres in New Orleans thriving music scene. Known for his versatility on electric bass, upright bass, and synthesizer, Moran provides a solid, soulful, foundation to a number of bands whether the repertoire be classic or progressive. As a student of mentors Donald Harrison and Alvin Battiste and as a full scholarship student at the Berklee College of Music, Moran has gained an understanding that allows him to excel in a diverse array of musical situations with creativity and stylistic authenticity. He has toured major venues and festivals internationally for over ten years with Donald Harrison (Miles Davis, Art Blakey), funk legends Bernie Worrell (Parliament/Funkadelic), Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), New Orleans drum masters, Herlin Riley and Shannon Powell, and trendsetting trumpeters Nicholas Payton and Christian Scott among many others. His own project, The Bridge Trio (co-lead by Conun Pappas and Joe Dyson) has performed at prestigious venues such as The John F. Kennedy Center for the performing arts, has released two self-produced albums, and has received awards from National Public Radio. Moran’s passion is composing and performing. His dedication to learning from his elders and innovating with his peers keeps him with a grueling schedule and an unquenchable desire to improve himself as an artist and human being.
