Simon Scheibel is currently the drummer of international superstar Álvaro Soler & one of the key YouTube hosts of Europe's biggest music retailer Thomann Music.
About:
Drummer Simon Scheibel has made it his mission to broaden his musical horizons with every step of his career. He feels just as comfortable with New York Jazz, Progressive Rock and Spanish Pop as with international sound productions.
From a young age, Simon was heavily influenced by his family's musical background. His grandfather was a drummer and his father was a passionate guitarist. It was the latter who introduced him to the early blues and rock of the 70's and 80's. So it's no wonder that Simon still has a soft spot for guitar-heavy instrumental music. However, he is also very interested in hip hop, heavy metal and big band productions, styles that he was able to explore and combine while studying jazz at the Arnhem Conservatory. During this time, Simon sought inspiration abroad, taking part in international workshops and touring with the Youth Jazz Orchestra in South Africa, Brazil and South Korea.
After graduating in 2009, Simon moved to Cologne, where he played in numerous bands. In recent years he has garnered international attention as a drummer, winning the Best Instrumentalist award at the Local Heroes Band Contest. He has been featured in drum magazines such as Sticks and Drums & Percussion and founded sound design company Ohrenkunst in 2014, where he has been involved in projects for Google, Bentley, Samsung and HBO. Ohrenkunst created the soundtrack for an interactive installation for Google, which premiered on a 60 meter screen in Times Square in New York.
Since 2021 he has been a permanent member of Alvaro Soler's band, with whom he tours throughout Europe. Simon's plans for the near future include multiple album productions and releases, touring and other challenges where he will continue to combine attention to detail with great musicianship.
