New York’s Indie Pop Darling Petra Jarrar is on the rise to be the voice and sound of her generation. Her knack for crafting the perfect song has been praised for containing “all the nutrients for Indie Pop hits.”
Petra’s debut album, “Dancing Without You,” was released in November 2019 to critical acclaim and served as a dedication to her late father who she lost to Stage IV Lung Cancer just two months after his diagnosis. She has performed all over the world with headlining shows in New York (Knitting Factory, Webster Hall), Boston (Hard Rock Cafe), Los Angeles (The Mint), Tokyo, and Osaka, sharing stages alongside artists such as Blu DeTiger, Jake Miller and others.
Coming from a Palestinian and Sri-Lankan ethnic background, Petra says she “never truly saw girls who looked like her in the spotlight.” She continually uses her platform and voice to pave the way for womxn of color, advocating for diversity, representation, and inclusion throughout the music industry.
Petra kicked off her latest music project featuring a series of singles tailored around sonically and visually invigorating experiences in the summer of 2020. This project also marked the beginning of revamping her former singer/songwriter style into a fresh take on dreamy, hook-drenched electropop anthems. Her efforts have gone far from unnoticed and has begun cultivating a dedicated fanbase of thousands on Tiktok and across social media.
